Hydroponic Planters

Home Hydroponic Planters are Trendy

And for good reason! Hydroponic planters allow anyone to liven their home and grow their own food. But most Hydroponic planters are manufactured from new plastic, use volatile and expensive liquid food, and often aren’t suitable for growing plants to their full natural size.

When I got my first hydroponic planter, I instantly fell in love with always having fresh herbs to cook and make drinks with, and I was amazed by how little time I had to put into caring for my plants compared to my outdoor conventional garden. After a while though, I ran out of plant nutrient, and I was a bit annoyed that there was no way to get refills without purchasing brand new plastic bottles. I also started to notice that as my plants matured, they started to crowd each other, and the smaller plants began to struggle. I purchased a different hydroponic planter from a different company - don’t get me wrong, I still love both of them - but it had all the same problems.

Having already been working on software for commercial hydroponic system automation with Chrysanthemum Productions, I figured, I’m in a great place to solve this problem! So, I present to you: The Chrysanthemum Hydroponic Planter!

Our Hydroponic Planters Stand Out

At Chrysanthemum Productions, we have a strong commitment to minimizing our environmental impact while still delivering the best possible product. Our planters use recycled or reused components when possible to reduce the need for new manufacturing and prevent waste!

  • All pots used for Chrysanthemum Hydroponic Planters are obtained locally from second hand stores. They may have small superficial cracks or chips, but they have all been thoroughly cleaned and tested for ability to hold water.

  • Chrysanthemum Hydroponic nutrient kits are also made using containers from second hand stores with the exception of dropper bottles, which may be new when we are unable to find them locally.

The plant nutrient mix we provide to you contains three components. Part A is MasterBlend Tomato 4-18-38. Part B is Magnesium Sulfate (or Epsom Salts). Part C is Calcium Nitrate 15.5-0-0. We provide this nutrient in solid form because we are able to give you a greater amount of nutrient this way, allowing you to care for your plants for longer without having to replenish it. It is also more shelf stable and requires less fuel to transport than liquid plant food. We believe mixing your own plant food also allows you a greater opportunity to understand the processes required for plant growth. If you run out of nutrient or experience any issues with the mixing and feeding process, please reach out to us! We will happily refill your existing nutrient containers or trade them for larger sized containers in person at a convention or our North Carolina location for a small charge. We can also send you nutrient refills.

  • Chrysanthemum Hydroponic Planter lids are handmade in North Carolina from bamboo, which is a very durable and natural material that can be more environmentally friendly than other wood options due to bamboo's quick growth time. Every lid is designed specifically for one pot so they have a tight fit and make good use of the amount of space the pot provides.

  • We use new plastic 5 and 3 inch mesh pots, grow baskets, and water level meters in our planters. While we typically try to avoid the use of plastics in our products, we are also committed to providing the best product, and these plastic components help us deliver the most consistent, durable, and effective system to you!

  • In addition to the materials we provide you with our hydroponic planters, you will need a 1/4 teaspoon measuring spoon, a container to hold water, and a spoon to mix nutrient in your container.

You may also need a grow light (and possibly a mechanical timer) if you do not have an area that receives enough natural light for plant growth. We are happy to sell you these components if you need them.
